The Easter Rejection

Worldly Rejection is NOT the end.

One of the first things we might notice about the Easter story (the one about Jesus) is His rejection. He was despised and rejected by the very people He came to save. At some point in the past, or perhaps still now for you, He was rejected by us. What is the Father’s response to all this rejection?

Did the Lord say “Oh, okay you’re disappointed in my Son. I’ll send someone else.”

No, He did not. Jesus was always God’s plan of salvation, His only plan, Jesus is the only one qualified to save us and reconcile us back to our Heavenly Father.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6 NKJV).

The Lord Himself, whilst on the cross responds with grace and forgiveness.

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots (Luke 23:34 NKJV).

Jesus was rejected to the point of death and He did this out of obedience to the Father for us. That’s what makes Jesus so special. That proves His love for us!

Jesus saves all who would believe in Him. The Father has exalted Jesus, who now sits at His right Hand. He has made a way for all to be in an eternal relationship with the Father, just believe and accept this wondrous gift and follow Him.

Consider briefly that Moses was also rejected by those he was called upon to save. When the Israelites were in captivity in Egypt, the Lord positioned Moses as second in command under Pharoah. Yet the Israelites rejected him as the way of their deliverance (see Acts 7:17-29). Did the Lord send someone else? No. The rejection of Moses merely delayed their release by 40 years. God raised Him up in due time as He did with Jesus.

The Lord chooses and loves what the world rejects!

From God’s perspective, being rejected by the world is powerful, it’s good because He can shine through it. We should reject lies and perhaps we might consider rejecting too much chocolate this Easter season. We must accept the rejected Christ. If you’ve ever been rejected (who hasn’t been?) or when you’re rejected in the future, be encouraged. You will never be rejected by the Lord and you’re in great company.

The Lord uses the most unlikely to bring His Kingdom to Earth and that’s us. Choose Him today, live for Him and watch what He will do even when there’s rejection.

Closing Thought

Air is a necessity for life and it is FREE but unless we receive it, we don’t benefit from it and can’t live. You might say, “But I have no choice.” Maybe, but so it is with accepting Jesus, there’s no other choice for everlasting life.
